Cambodia Gambling Dens

[ English ]

There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are anchored in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai laborers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of limitations requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is true of most borders.

The first Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The first gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel building that contains numerous amenities aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
